Evidence based wellness Interior design refers to the application of neuroscience principles to create spaces that positively influence how people feel, think, and behave. It involves understanding how elements like light, colour, spatial layout, texture, pattern and acoustics affect the brain and nervous system, aiming to enhance well-being, productivity, and emotional responses. By aligning design choices with how the brain processes environments, neuro design helps create interiors that are not only beautiful but supportive of our health and well-being.

Course Objective

Research in neuroscience and environmental psychology consistently shows that the spaces we inhabit shape our stress levels, sleep, cognitive function and long term health. Therefore, as designers we face significant challenges, not just to deliver inclusive, sustainable and adaptive spaces but also to deliver spaces that support health and well being.

This 90 minute session will introduce you to key research at the intersection of Neuroscience and Architecture and explore the fundamental ways that the environment shapes experience, so that you can learn to deliver healthy spaces.

We will finish with a 30 minute workshop on how to apply the findings.
